Yarn selection
The shawl is knitted with two different yarns – alternating two needles with each quality. You can combine yarns with color changes and solid colors for a vibrant and graphic look.
- Yarn 1: Approx. 150–200 g wool, alpaca, mohair or similar – with a running length of approx. 350–400 m / 382–437 yds per 100 g (3.5 oz)
- Yarn 2: Approx. 150–200 g yarn with color change – e.g. in the same thickness or slightly lighter yarn (lace–fingering weight)
Total yarn quantity:
Approximately 300–400 g in total – equivalent to approximately 1050–1600 m / 1150–1750 yds.
In addition, a small amount of leftover cotton yarn is used for temporary binding.

Description
Construction
Hexa Shawl with iCord is an exciting modular shawl that is knitted exclusively in garter stitch - without any seams.
The work begins with a hexagon in the middle, which is formed by six smaller triangles. Then smaller and larger triangles are knitted from the hexagon – one at a time. Stitches are picked up along the way, so there are no seams. An iCord edge is knitted all the way around, giving the shawl a finished and beautiful look.
The model is suitable for color experiments and combinations of different yarn qualities - and you can adjust the color distribution as you wish.
The name
Hexa refers to the starting point for the shawl's construction – a composition of six triangles that together form a hexagon. This shape forms the center of the shawl and is the starting point for the further modular knitting.
