Yarn selection

The pattern can be knitted with:
– Fingering weight yarn (approx. 400 m / 100 g)
– Sport weight yarn (approx. 320 m / 100 g)
– Lace weight yarn – two strands held together (approx. 800 m / 100 g)

The most important thing is that the knitting tension is right .

Model yarn and colors
The model in the picture is size (L) and it is knitted in:
– Baby Alpaca (lace weight, held double)
– Kid Mohair (2-ply, one thread)
for approx. 48 different colors and 2 qualities.
However, the sweater can easily be knitted with fewer (or more) colors and is perfect as a leftover project.

Construction

The Signa Sweater consists of a total of 381 triangles of the same size as well as 2 smaller triangles located at the neckline in the neck.

All triangles are knitted in garter stitch, one at a time and in one color. Stitches are picked up/knitted up along the way, so that the triangles are knitted directly next to and in extension of each other – without sewing together.

The triangles form hexagons that connect together and create the structure of the sweater. To give the sweater a good fit, there are some combinations where the triangles instead form pentagons or heptagons.
All edges – neck, sleeves and bottom of the body are finished with an iCord.

The name
The sweater expresses what I am inspired by and what I would like to be recognized for:
  • modular knitting in triangles
  • minimum possible stitching
  • beautiful colors
  • good yarn qualities
  • different and fun knitwear
It has my signature, I think, hence the name. Signa Sweater
