My interest in knitting and design

My interest in clothing and design goes back a long way. As a young person, I trained as a clothing technician, and clothing design, pattern making and construction have always been of great interest to me. I love yarn and knitting, but I also really enjoy sewing and creating something out of fabric. For me, the different crafts are connected in many ways – it is about materials, shapes and bringing an idea to life into something you can use and wear.

Modular knit in triangles

In my knitting designs, I am particularly fascinated by triangles and the possibilities they offer. Many of my patterns are therefore based on triangles, which are joined together in different ways and gradually grow into a complete garment. I work extensively with modular knitting, where the pieces are knitted in extension of one another – often without any sewing at all. This allows me to play with shapes, knitting directions, and colors, and to find new ways to construct a sweater, cardigan, vest, or shawl.

Colors and dyeing of yarn

Colors also mean a lot to me. I love both bright and bold colors, but especially dusty and delicate shades. Solid-colored yarns, variegated yarns, and yarns with long colorways can each offer something different. Part of the excitement of knitting is seeing how the colors come together along the way and change the look.

Over the past year, my interest in yarn has also expanded to include dyeing yarn itself. This has opened up yet another world of possibilities for working with color, and I also use some of the yarn I dye myself in my knitting patterns. I think it's exciting to be able to work with the color, the yarn, and the design itself as part of the same process.

My patterns are created from the desire to share the joy I experience when an idea slowly takes shape in yarn. Several of the patterns are also really well suited to using yarn from your stash or smaller leftovers, because the individual triangles make it possible to combine different colors and, in some cases, different yarn qualities.

I hope you find inspiration in my patterns – and maybe feel like playing around with your own color combinations. I really love seeing other people's versions of my patterns, so feel free to share a photo – either by sending it to me or posting it on Facebook or Instagram.

Happy knitting – whatever you knit 🧶
