Yarn Choice

The shawl is knitted with two types of yarn, both with the same yardage:
100 g = 380-400 m / 416-437 yds

• Yarn 1: Approx. 200 g (800 m / 874 yds) (e.g. alpaca, wool, or mohair)
  Solid color or yarn with a long color gradient
• Yarn 2: Approx. 150 g (570 m / 623 yds) yarn with a shorter color gradient – e.g. 3 skeins of 50 g Mille Colori Baby (Lang Yarns)

Gauge

22 stitches = 10 cm (4 in) in garter stitch (garter ridges)

Construction

The shawl is knitted in modules, using triangles where stitches are picked up along the way – entirely without seams. First, the 8 small triangles are knitted one at a time. Then, the two large triangles, which form the shawl's "wings," are knitted. Finally, the border is added – either by knitting or crocheting it on. The entire shawl is knitted in stripes with two different gradient yarns, which adds contrast and depth to the graphic expression.
