Hexa Vest and Sweater

Sizes: XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL. Finished measurements for the vest or sweater – Bust: 98 (105) 114 (123) 132 (142) 151 cm / 38.6 (41.3) 44.9 (48.4) 52.0 (55.9) 59.4 in. Body length from shoulder to waist: 50 (53) 57 (61) 65 (70) 76 cm / 19.7 (20.9) 22.4 (24.0) 25.6 (27.6) 29.9 in. The hem is worked from the top down, so you can adjust the length. Sweater sleeve length from the neckline: 62–70 cm / 24.4–27.6 in. Sleeves are also worked from the top down and can be adjusted in length. The light-coloured mohair vest is size M; the blue and green sweater is size XL.

Knitting needles: Use a 6 mm / US 10 circular needle, 80–100 cm / 31.5–39.4 in long, or the size needed to obtain gauge. You will also need a second circular needle or a stitch holder for stitches on hold. Gauge in garter stitch: 13 stitches and 28 rows = 10 × 10 cm / approx. 4 × 4 in. Yarn: Mohair/silk, approx. 210 m per 25 g / 230 yd per 0.9 oz, held triple. Matching the gauge is most important. Yarn needed for sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL: Vest: 135 (155) 180 (205) 235 (275) 310 g / 4.8 (5.5) 6.3 (7.2) 8.3 (9.7) 10.9 oz. Sweater: 210 (230) 260 (290) 325 (375) 415 g / 7.4 (8.1) 9.2 (10.2) 11.5 (13.2) 14.6 oz. There are six triangles on the back and five on the front; each uses approx. 6 (8) 10 (12) 14 (16) 18 g / 0.2 (0.3) 0.4 (0.4) 0.5 (0.6) 0.6 oz. This is included in the total yarn amounts.

Construction: The Hexa Vest and Sweater are knitted in modules, with six triangles on the back and five on the front. Work each triangle in garter stitch and pick up stitches along its edges to join the pieces as you go, with no sewing required. Make a short-sleeved vest or a long-sleeved sweater. The hem can have side slits or be worked without them. Sleeves and hem are worked from the top down, so you can adjust their length. Use the triangles to create your own colour combination.
